Over the past few months, we've been helping a client migrate their WordPress site to a new theme and clean up their inbound marketing efforts, minimize the customizations they've implemented, and improve systems communication - including analytics.
The customer has LiveChat, a fantastic chat service with robust Google Analytics integration for every step of the chat process. LiveChat has an excellent API for integration into your website, including the ability to open a chat window using the onClick event in the anchor tag. This is what it looks like:

This is useful if you can modify the underlying code or add your own HTML. Most themes are locked for security reasons, so you can't add an onClick event to any object. However, there is always the option to specify a class for your button or link. For my client, I added a class called openchat that applies to buttons all over the site.
Because Livechat is slow to load, we initially hid our button on the site.
